In August 2009, a small group of volunteers from Orlando, FL offered their multimedia services to help Haven Acres Cat Sanctuary apply for project consideration to the ABC Network’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition program.
By doing so, Haven Acres took the first step in identifying strengths and weaknesses of its current state and began to envision what we would like it to be.
It is our desire that we maintain an open but controlled environment by allowing the cats to freely mingle within

One of our board members, Celeste Rubanick, is currently engaged in putting together a fundraiser with the goal of raising $500,000 to begin this massive but necessary undertaking.
We have also identified a need to address some flaws with the land that need to be corrected before the building can begin. This will require contouring, levelling out and building up various portions of the land prone to flooding.
We are particularly impressed with the environmentally green, energy efficient, toxin free and exceptionally durable commercial and home structure designs by Formworks built to withstand hurricanes, tornadoes, major earthquakes and severe winter storms and fires.
fenced in areas, but we would also like to provide structural outdoor housing that would complement the fenced in free roaming component of our sanctuary and provide better protection from the elements than we have at this time.
Phase 1, which we call the main building and from which other subsequent smaller phases would be modeled after, would house the business office, conference room, kitchenette/break room for our volunteers, indoor shelter to house the cats on bad weather days, an adoption viewing room as well as separate “quiet room” and medically sanitized quarters for sick cats and cats in recovery from surgery .
